Common Account Settings Print

  • 6

For users on shared accounts, and even some VPS and Dedicated customers, many of the DNS, webmail and other account settings will be similar.

Nameservers:

ns1.blackchickenhost.com
ns2.blackchickenhost.com
ns3.blackchickenhost.com
ns4.blackchickenhost.com

Email:

Until DNS propagates, you can access your email via webmail here if you are on the coop server (if not, substitute your server name for coop.blackchickenhost.com:)

http://coop.blackchickenhost.com:2096

After DNS propagation, you may also use:

http://yourdomain.com:2096

Of course, you'll need to put in your actual domain name before the :2096.

Use your full email address to log in, and the email password for that account.

Checking Your Website Before DNS Propagation Occurs:

To access your website on our servers before DNS is pointed to us, please read this tutorial on setting up a local hosts file:

Setting Up a Hosts File for your Local Computer

Uploading Content:

Prior to DNS propagation, you can FTP to your server name, for example:

coop.blackchickenhost.com
Username: Your cPanel username, included in your Welcome Email
Password: Your cPanel password, also included in your Welcome Email

After DNS propgation, you can FTP to:

ftp.yourdomain.com

Accessing cPanel:

Prior to DNS propgation, you may access your cPanel control panel here:

https://coop.blackchickenhost.com:2083
Username: Your cPanel username, included in your Welcome Email
Password: Your cPanel password, also included in your Welcome Email

After DNS propagation, you may access it via:

http://yourdomain.com:2082   or
https://yourdomain.com:2083

Note: When accessing https URL's that do not match the hostname (as in when using your domain name to access cPanel,) your web browser will alert you that the SSL does not match your domain - it is safe to proceed through these warnings.
